The above picture sums me up.

I love my supportive husband, (and gosh darn it, he’s cute too)  absolutely adore my two littles  -my kids-  more than anything on this earth and you can always find me in the kitchen!

I spent my entire childhood living in the country, spent my days as a child playing outside, getting muddy in creeks, racing around with my siblings and two Labrador retrievers and not coming in until the mosquitoes started eating me alive. I even participated in the requisite 4H, though much to my shame, if you asked me to saddle a horse tomorrow I think I’ve become too citified and forgot. Does it all come back to you like riding a bike?

What I haven’t forgot is the pace which is so much slower, more relaxed and with a definite emphasis on family togetherness.

Or the simple pleasures of growing some of your own food to eat in a garden, and making a real dinner every night because any fast food you got was freezing by the time you got it 15 minutes out of town.

And the relaxation to be found in taking the time to craft and create, because those long winter nights in the country were mighty boring with only 3 channels of TV!

Living on an acreage again is probably not on my horizon for a while; knowing the sacrifices you make in schooling choices, friends, and the commuting difficulties for both of us usually convince me not to move back. Yet.

There is no reason to stop doing all the above, just because I live in the city. So until I’m back in the country, I continue to fill my house with home cooking and baking which I discovered I absolutely love to photo-journalize to share with others and find it an amazing creative outlet, fill my yard with as many plants as I can cram in, delight in all the triumphs in my city garden and learn from my failures. There’s no reason I can’t do it in the city!

Because its all pretty much country living, I just have to do it city style for now
